• John Uesseler Headshot


    John Uesseler was born and raised in Corydon, Indiana to a family of educators. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Systems Management from Purdue University and began his professional career working in agricultural sales and services.

    After six years of working in business and industry, John obtained his Master of Education degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia and spent five years in the classroom - 4 of which were spent at Jackson County Comprehensive High School (1999-2003). From July 2006 until December 2012, he served as Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Coordinator for Henry County schools.  In 2011, John spearheaded the Career Academy initiative in Henry County and opened the Academy for Advanced Studies as CEO/Principal in the Fall of 2013.  

    In July 2019, John was hired as CEO of the Empower College and Career Center, which is located on the former Jackson County Comprehensive High School site, which opened its doors in the fall of 2021.
